Diode laser epilation03.08.2015
Diode laser epilation is a cosmetic procedure that can help you to get rid of unwanted hair on the body for a long time, and in some cases for life.
The beam of the laser diode affects the cells with melanin contents. These cells are the ones of bulb and stem in the hair follicle. Those pigmented cells die under laser beam, leading to irreversible changes in the hair follicle and hair growth stops. Both single and double pulses can be used for hair removal allowing personal configuring the machine individually for certain client, taking into consideration type of the skin and hair coloring, and other characteristics.
The benefits of diode laser epilation
Diode lasers were invented not so long ago. The specific wavelength of the laser radiation and a number of the certain technical solutions make the process convenient and comfortable for both the professional who makes hair removal as well as for the patient. The wavelength of the laser diode is that the light flash only affects the cells of the hair follicle without affecting skin cells, even if the skin is dark or tanned. It removes not only dark, but bright and thin hair. The technical advantages of the diode laser include large diameter of the light beam and frequency of 10 pulses per second. This allows hair removal in motion and significantly reduces the time of the procedure.
The disadvantages of diode laser epilation
The disadvantages of diode hair removal include soreness. There are no damage to the skin, but the hair follicle is heated by laser radiation. In result the processing of enough long, very dark, thick hair as well processing of all or some of the skin may be sensitive or even painful. It relates, especially, to the patients with a low pain threshold. Hair does not disappear immediately after the procedure, but falling for another two to three weeks after epilation.
Indications for diode laser epilation
The hair of dark to light brown color. Hairs ingrown with dark pigmented spots to form on the site of the ingrown hair; irritation from razor and/or other means for shaving; coarse hair, which do not give the feeling of smooth skin for a long time, even after shaving by razor or depilation by cream; intolerance to depilation wax or depilators.
Contraindications to the procedure
Fresh tan is not 100% contraindication, but the skin which did not restore after exposure to the sun can respond to the impact of the laser with dryness, peeling, pigmentation and hair removal might be not so effective. Also they include: placers moles in the processed areas, varicose veins in case of shin depilation; decompensated diabetes; acute diseases of internal organs and/or cardiovascular system or exacerbation of chronic ones; herpetic rashes, fungal, bacterial skin diseases; allergy; colds; traumas to the skin at the site of impact; tendency to keloids; pregnancy and lactation. Contraindications to the hair removal in the bikini area and underarms include any diseases of the pelvic organs and breast.
Preparation for the procedure
Before the diode hair removal procedure is advisable not to pull or tear your hair in any way for at least a month, for avoiding the possibility of the compensatory increased hair growth. A day or two before the procedure, the hair should be shaved with a razor, so by the time of the laser epilation the skin would be free of the razor irritation, and the hair had a bit grow. Grow hair more than 1 mm is impractical because then the whole energy of the laser radiation will be spent on the hair shaft and follicle cannot get enough power from the exposure to stop hair growth permanently. Before the procedure the usage of the cosmetic oils and creams should be avoided, as it can cause burns. With a weak tolerance to pain an hour before the procedure anesthetic cream could be applied or about 15 minutes before lidocaine anesthetic spray could be applied. With frequent relapses “cold on the lips” prophylactic course of antiviral drugs is recommended, since as in response to the laser damage to the skin herpetic rash can appear.
Usually before the diode hair removal procedure you should contact dermatologist, who assesses the indications and contraindications for the procedure, and answer your questions. In time of the procedure you lie on the cosmetic couch. The eyes of the client and the physician should be protected with special glasses to avoid the laser light impact. Doctor sequentially processes the entire area of hair growth with laser pulses. Hair thus burning. You may feel the characteristic smell of burnt hair. The entire procedure takes from 15 (upper lip hair removal) to 60 minutes. After the procedure, panthenol or other means, according to the doctor recommendation, should be applied to promote healing.
Post procedure skin care
For skin care in the first days after the procedure, you must be guided by your own sensations. If there is no pain, itching, burning and/or irritation, it is possible to take a warm shower avoiding the coarse wool usage, and you should apply panthenol 2-3 times a day. If irritation persists or you feel discomfort, it is better not to wash and do not rub the skin, do not wear nylon stockings and tight clothes, be sure to use a healing agent. Before the follow up procedure you should inform your doctor the condition of your skin after the previous session, so he would be able to choose the optimal care. Do not get sun tanning for 2-4 weeks, just to give your skin time to recover. It is undesirable to use the sauna and bath, play sports or heavy physical labor, as excessive sweating can cause skin irritation or the development of folliculitis.
The number of the procedures
is defined individually, based on the continued growth of the hair. Typically, the number of procedures ranges from 4 to 7-8. Different parts of the body may require a different number of procedures for the complete disposal of unwanted hair.
